The Program
The Program is our outpatient addiction treatment program.
Treatment focuses on:
- Lifestyle changes
- Education about dependencies/addiction
- Training in relapse prevention
- Medication Assisted Treatment
Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) has been proven to improve outcomes for patients in alcohol and drug treatment. A number of different medications are currently available to assist individuals with their withdrawal and recovery from alcohol and drug use. Some, but not all, of the medications used in The Program include:
- Acamprosate (Campral) and disulfiram (Antabuse) - for alcohol dependence
- Naltrexone tablets – for alcohol and opioid dependence
- Vivitrol (naltrexone – Long Acting Injection) - for alcohol and opioid dependence
- Suboxone, Zubzolv and Bunavail (buprenorphine) - for opioid dependence
- Varenicline (Chantix) and nicotine replacement – for tobacco dependence
Addiction is a complex but treatable disease that affects brain function and behavior. No single treatment is appropriate for everyone but almost all patients benefit from:
- Life style change: Life style change is crucial for sustained recovery. You will be empowered to transform from an addicted life style to a sober way of living.
- Remaining in treatment: Staying in treatment for an adequate period of time is critical. Duration of treatment is dependent on the individual but you should think in terms of months and years rather than days and weeks.
- Counseling: Individual counseling is available.
- AA/NA and Celebrate Recovery: Meetings are free and can to help you stay in recovery for life.
- Medications: Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an important element of treatment for many patients. Just as some diabetics need insulin to control their blood sugar some patients need medications to help control their addiction.
Often addiction can be treated on an outpatient basis.
